                                     Yeti Airlines, HAMS Hospital announce special benefits for Everest Summiteers

21st March 2025. Kathmandu,  Yeti Airlines and HAMS Hospital have announced special benefits to honor Everest summiteers and their contributions.
According to the Everest Summiteers Association, Yeti Airlines will provide special discounts on air tickets for Everest climbers affiliated with the association and their families. The association’s President, Maya Sherpa, and Yeti Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Yubaraj Bista, signed an agreement formalizing the initiative.Similarly, HAMS Hospital will offer up to a 50% discount on medical services for world record-holding climbers and a 30% discount for their families, as recommended by the association. The agreement was signed by President Sherpa and HAMS Hospital CEO Binod Kumar Dhungel.

The signing event was attended by Vice President Diwas Pokhrel and General Secretary Shiva Bahadur Sapkota from the Everest Summiteers Association.The association, which represents Everest climbers, was established 25 years ago. Since 2008, it has conducted cleanup campaigns in the Himalayas, including the Everest Protection Campaign in 2011, which managed 8.1 tons of waste. The association has also led initiatives such as the Cabinet Meeting at Everest Base Camp and a climate march during COP 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, according to the press release issued by the association.Recognizing its contributions, Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has integrated the association as a technical wing. The Department of Tourism assigns record-holding Everest climbers as liaison officers for Himalayan expeditions based on the association’s recommendations. The department also collaborates with the association for climbing permits and medal distribution while maintaining climbers’ financial records, the release further stated.

                                      Ex TV journo Kami Sherpa honoured with Everest Summiteer badge

15th April 2025. Kathmandu, The Department of Tourism honored courageous climber Kami Sherpa(Former Treasure of ESA) with an Everest summiteer badge and a special ID card during a ceremony in Kathmandu. Leeladhar Awasthi, Director of the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, presented the Sagarmatha special badge and Everest summiteer card to Kami Sherpa in recognition of his contributions to promoting Nepal’s adventure tourism globally. Kami has summited Everest six times and previously worked as a video journalist for Nepal Television, covering various activities on the world’s highest peak. Earlier, he was honored with the Hem Sunil Risky Television Journalism Award, which included a cash prize of one lakh rupees.
The event was attended by Diwas Pokhrel, Vice-President of the Everest Summiteers Association (ESA); ESA General Secretary Shiva Bahadur Sapkota; senior journalist Raju Silwal; and Bal Krishna Pandit, Manager of Air Dynasty Helicopters, among others.The decision to award special government badges to Everest summiteers was made following initiatives by the Everest Summiteers’ Association. Kami, who currently resides in California, remains actively involved in promoting Nepal, Sherpa culture, and social services.
